Summary

We are seeking a full-time registered licensed nurse for our Infection Preventionist/Staff Development Coordinator position. This candidate will act as the coordinator of an infection prevention and control program to oversee the general application of the infection control guidelines. Conducts all staff in-services including mandatory in-services and ongoing nursing assistant training to comply with federal guidelines.

Responsibilities:

• Coordinate and monitor monthly departmental infection control rounds processes.
• Maintain records of infections, procedures, outcomes related to infections and risk assessment, prevention and minimizing activities.
• Coordinate completion of ongoing immunization tracking activities and implement measures to improve compliance, including influenza, pneumococcal and tuberculosis.
• Function as program coordinator for ongoing nursing staff education requirement and documentation of same.
• Plan and conduct interdepartmental in-services, mandatory and episodic. Develop and conduct an orientation program for new hires and serves as the liaison for new hires during the introductory period. Coordinate and conduct the clinical orientation for nursing staff, including on-floor observations for role compliance.
• Maintain documentation of educational in-services according to federal guidelines.
• Develop and coordinate computer training for EMR to all nursing staff and IDT as needed.
• Review infection and prevalence rates monthly providing recommendations to the Infection Control or Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement Committee.

Required Qualifications:

• Current licensure as a registered nurse.
• Knowledge of infection control, epidemiology, quality improvement, and adult education principles.
• Certification in Infection Control by the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology (CBIC).
