Job summary

Apploi is seeking a dedicated Infection Preventionist to promote a safe environment for residents, staff, and visitors in a skilled nursing setting. You will develop and oversee infection prevention programs, ensure regulatory compliance, and support high-quality care.

The role emphasizes education, committee leadership, and collaboration with departments. Requirements include licensure or degree in nursing, microbiology, epidemiology, or related fields, plus specialized infection prevention

Qualifications

• State licensure or certifications must be met.
• Education or certification in infection prevention and control.
• Completed specialized training in infection prevention and control.

Responsibilities

• Develops and implements an ongoing infection prevention program to prevent, recognize and control infections.
• Establishes facility-wide systems for prevention and reporting of infections.
• Creates policies and procedures aligned with current standards for infection control.
• Oversees antibiotic stewardship program.
• Leads Infection and Prevention Control Committee and develops improvement plans.
• Educates staff, residents and families on infection prevention principles.
• Maintains documentation of infection prevention activities.
• Collaborates with occupational health and safety and other departments.

Education

Nurse with certificate/diploma or degree in nursing

Medical technologist with associate’s degree in medical technology or clinical laboratory science

Bachelor’s degree in microbiology

Bachelor’s degree in epidemiology

Physician, pharmacist or physician’s assistant
