Job summary

University Health seeks an experienced Infection Preventionist to support the Director of Infection Control in implementing a comprehensive system-wide infection prevention program across the health system. The role emphasizes patient safety, regulatory compliance, and cost-effective infection control strategies.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in nursing or higher, five or more years in infection prevention within a hospital, plus at least three years in an acute care setting.

Qualifications

• Five+ years in infection prevention within a hospital setting.
• Bachelor's degree in nursing or higher required.
• Three years of recent infection prevention in an acute care hospital setting required.
• Post-graduate courses in epidemiology, infection prevention or disease control desirable.
• Supervisory/managerial experience desirable.
• Working knowledge of statistics and epidemiological principles required.
• Computer skills: Word, Excel, PowerPoint; QI Macros; comfortable with learning new programs.

Responsibilities

• Support the Director, Infection Control in a system-wide infection prevention program.
• Protect patients, healthcare workers, volunteers, students, and visitors in the healthcare environment.
• Ensure program goals are achieved in a cost-effective manner.
