Job summary

Presbyterian Healthcare Services in Albuquerque, NM is seeking an Infection Preventionist to join our Quality and Patient Safety team. The role focuses on identifying and minimizing infection risks for patients, staff, and visitors, and serves as a resource for Infection Prevention and Control across Presbyterian facilities.

You will conduct surveillance of HAIs, analyze data, lead outbreak investigations, develop policies and education, and ensure compliance with CDC, CMS, Joint Commission,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a health-related field required.
• Master's degree preferred.
• Two years of experience in acute health care required.
• CIC certification preferred within 3 years of hire.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally.
• 24-hour on-call responsibility required.
• Proficiency with MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint).
• Knowledge of epidemiological principles and infectious disease.

Responsibilities

• Conduct surveillance, investigation, and reporting of healthcare-associated infections and communicable diseases.
• Analyze infection prevention data to identify trends and corrective actions.
• Collaborate with clinical leaders to implement evidence-based infection prevention practices.
• Lead outbreak investigations and coordinate response activities as needed.
• Develop and monitor infection prevention policies, procedures and education.
