UPMC Mercy Health Center in Pittsburgh is seeking a Full Time Infection Preventionist to lead the hospital’s infection prevention program. You will perform surveillance, investigate outbreaks, and educate staff to prevent healthcare-associated infections.

The role requires collaboration with clinicians and regulators, participation in the Infection Prevention and Control Committee, and ongoing professional development to ensure compliance with CDC, DOH, and TJC standards.

Responsabilités

• Facilitate implementation of infection prevention policies for all hospital departments in line with current guidelines.
• Provide leadership for interdisciplinary teams to control disease entities and support quality initiatives.
• Identify infection trends through surveillance data to develop risk reduction strategies and improvement plans.
• Conduct construction/renovation inspections to ensure DOH compliance and infection control safety.
• Serve on the Infection Prevention and Control Committee and represent Hospital Epidemiology in relevant meetings.
• Perform related duties as required.
• Pursue ongoing continuing education by reviewing publications and participating in professional activities.
• Investigate clusters and outbreaks; educate staff on short- and long-term control measures and assess effectiveness.
• Coordinate NHSN reporting and other regulatory requirements for infection prevention activities.
• Conduct environmental rounds to assess compliance with DOH, Life Safety and TJC requirements.
• Collaborate with management to identify areas for improved performance to prevent HAIs and protect staff and patients.
• Act as liaison with local and state health departments and other facilities for reporting and investigations.
• Plan, develop and deliver educational programs for hospital personnel, patients and families.
• Support quality, system improvement and cost containment through successful initiative implementation.
• Surveil hospital units for HAIs using electronic records, lab data and clinical information, and communicate findings.
