Job summary

Baptist Health in Jacksonville, FL is hiring an Infection Preventionist to join the Infection Prevention team at Wolfson Children’s Hospital. This is a full-time, in-person day shift on the Baptist Medical Center Jacksonville campus.

The Infection Preventionist will lead IPC programs, conduct surveillance, mentor staff, apply epidemiologic principles, and collaborate across departments to improve patient safety.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of Infection Prevention, Epidemiology, Public Health, or related healthcare experience.
• Experience with healthcare surveillance systems, infection prevention regulations, and quality improvement initiatives (preferred).
• Certification in Infection Control (CIC) or equivalent is expected within 2 years of hire.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate to develop, implement, monitor, and sustain effective Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) strategies across the health system.
• Lead and monitor Infection Prevention and Control programs, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and regulatory requirements.
• Mentor Infection Preventionists while seeking opportunities for continued professional development and advanced practice.
• Apply epidemiologic principles to conduct surveillance, analyze infection trends, and evaluate the effectiveness of surveillance plans.
• Conduct IPC assessments, environmental rounding, and risk assessments while communicating findings and recommendations to clinical and operational leaders.
• Investigate healthcare-associated infections, outbreaks, and clusters to identify opportunities for improvement and implement corrective actions.
• Develop and deliver infection prevention education programs tailored to diverse healthcare audiences.
• Utilize IPC informatics tools and reporting systems to collect, validate, analyze, and visualize data for regulatory reporting and performance improvement.
• Perform data analysis using statistical methods to identify trends, calculate benchmarks, evaluate outcomes, and support quality improvement initiatives.
• Develop action plans with measurable goals to reduce infection risks and improve patient safety outcomes.
• Collaborate with internal and external partners to promote public health initiatives and improve continuum of care outcomes.
• Participate in and lead research and quality improvement projects and disseminate findings through education and consultation.
