Job summary

St. Luke's University Health Network is seeking an Infection Control Preventionist to lead facility-wide surveillance and reporting of hospital-acquired infections, serving as a resource to patient care units, staff and departments.

The role requires advancing infection control practices, coordinating with APIC members and NHSN, and participating in education, committees and performance improvement to uphold patient safety.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree (BSN) required within 5 years of hire.

Responsibilities

• Conducts facility wide surveillance, analysis and reporting of Hospital Acquired infections (HAI) as established by goals.
• Identifies and reports HAI in accordance with PA/NJ reporting requirements.
• Reports communicable diseases to public health departments as required by statutes.
• Acts as a resource/liaison to customers on Infection Control and epidemiology.
• Functions as a role model for PPE and handwashing.
• Institutes infection control measures when danger to patients or staff is detected.
• Participates in NHSN benchmarking and reporting.
• Assists Employee Health in follow-up of exposures.
• Participates in continuing education and APIC membership.
• Develops infection control educational programs and serves on committees.
• Maintains confidentiality and adheres to safety policies.
• Uses evidence-based research to advance infection control practices.
• Participates in Performance Improvement activities.
