Job summary

UMMC in Jackson, MS is hiring an Infection Preventionist (RN) for a full-time role in the Infection Prevention department. The role reviews data, prepares reports, and interprets CDC guidance on health care associated vs community infections.

You will advise on mock TJC surveys, best practices, and regulatory compliance, while delivering infection prevention education. Requires RN license and at least 2 years of nursing experience in an acute care hospital.

Qualifications

• Two years of nursing experience in an acute care hospital.
• Valid RN license.
• Certification by the board of infection control preferred.
• Experience with infection prevention data reporting and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Collects and reports infection data and best practice compliance.
• Enters data into TheraDoc and NHSN for surveillance.
• Reviews patient infection data at discharge/admission and notifies as needed.
• Manages TB isolation and reporting with clinical staff and health department.
• Acts as ICP consultant for construction projects and clinical staff.
• Reviews microbiology reports and discusses unfamiliar organisms with management.
