Job summary

Medical University of South Carolina seeks an RN Infection Preventionist to evaluate and improve patient care related to Healthcare and Community Acquired Infections. You will collect, analyze, and present HAI data, and guide action through informed recommendations.

The role requires an active RN license, CPR, and specialized IPC training. Prior geriatrics experience is preferred, and collaboration with the DON and Quality Department is essential.

Qualifications

• Must possess a nursing diploma.
• Must be licensed/registered in applicable State and maintain an active RN license.
• CPR certification required at hire or during orientation and must remain current.
• Must have specialized IPC training prior to assuming the role.
• Prior experience with geriatrics preferred.
• Certifications per State requirements (e.g., Certified TB Nurse) may be required.

Responsibilities

• Performs infection surveillance across the organization and records data on HAIs and CAIs.
• Investigates and initiates control measures as authorized by committees.
• Communicates infection data and recommendations to leadership and staff.
• Provides education to staff, residents, and families; serves as resource across departments.
