Job summary

Sentara Leigh Hospital in Norfolk, VA is hiring a Clinical Infection Preventionist to join our team. You will develop, implement and monitor infection prevention initiatives and support surveillance activities at multiple levels.

You will lead staff education and rounding, promoting evidence-based practices to improve quality outcomes. A Bachelor’s degree is required and CIC certification is preferred with a 1-year eligibility window. Two years in healthcare is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; preferred focus in nursing, clinical quality improvement, microbiology, epidemiology or related field.
• CIC certification preferred; required within one year of eligibility.
• Two years of healthcare experience; preferred infection prevention experience.
• Expert knowledge of infection surveillance, prevention and control standards; performance/improvement concepts are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement and monitor site-specific infection prevention and control initiatives.
• Support surveillance activities at division and system level; ensure regulatory standards are met.
• Provide leadership and expertise to staff through rounding, education and training; promote evidence-based practices.
