Job summary

Encompass Health Corporation in Scottsdale, AZ is seeking an Infection Preventionist to lead infection control efforts across our inpatient rehabilitation network. You will spearhead prevention strategies, monitor compliance with regulatory standards, and partner with care teams to uphold patient safety.

The role emphasizes data-driven analysis, policy development, and staff education to prevent infections and improve outcomes in a multidisciplinary environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a healthcare field is required.
• Post-secondary health-related education is preferred.
• Active professional licensure (RN/Physician/Medical Technologist/CLS) is required.

Responsibilities

• Direct the managerial functions of our Infection Control Program.
• Assure compliance with CMS, TJC, CDC, OSHA, and other standards.
• Analyze hospital infection data to identify trends, clusters, risk factors and variances.
• Manage hospital policies aligned with infection control guidelines.
• Perform surveillance, analysis, and reporting of hospital-acquired infections.
• Educate staff on infection control protocols.
• Serve as a resources on infection control practices and policies.
• Develop and maintain infection control standards meeting regulatory guidelines.

• Direct the managerial functions of our Infection Control Program
• Assure compliance with CMS, TJC, CDC, OSHA, and other federal and state standards and guidelines.
• Analyze hospital infection data to identify trends, clusters, risk factors and variances.
• Manage hospital policies consistent with applicable infection control guidelines and standards.
• Perform surveillance, analysis, and reporting of hospital-acquired infections.
• Educate staff on infection control protocols.
• Serve as a knowledgeable and available resource on infection control practices and policies.
• Develop and maintain infection control standards meeting regulatory guidelines.

Qualifications

• License or Certification:
  • Current license or certification as a medical technologist, clinical laboratory scientist, physician, or registered nurse.
• Education and Experience:
  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree in a healthcare field.
  • 1 year experience in a clinical setting in field of practice.
• Preferred: CIC Certification.
• Training in infection control and/or epidemiology.
• Preferred: experience in hospital infection control practice.
• Completed post-secondary education in a health-related field including but not limited to medicine, nursing, laboratory technology, public health, or biology.
• Effective communication skills in both written and verbal forms.
• Detail-oriented with strong analytical abilities.
• Ability to work independently and make informed decisions.
• Flexibility to work varying shifts, including weekdays, weekends, evenings, or nights as needed.
