Job summary

Yale New Haven Health seeks an Infection Preventionist to join the hospital infection control team in New Haven. The role focuses on surveillance, data analysis, and collaboration with clinical staff to prevent health care–associated infections.

Responsibilities include reviewing EMR data per NHSN definitions, investigating outbreaks, and supporting education and policy development across departments to safeguard patients and staff.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2–5 years of experience in an acute care hospital; infection prevention experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Learn surveillance for healthcare-associated infections and support safe patient care.
• Review EMR data to identify infections using NHSN definitions.
• Identify clusters or outbreaks and assist investigations.
• Follow state and federal reporting requirements for communicable diseases.
• Provide support to clinical staff and committees on IP policies and guidelines.
• Collaborate with departments to improve infection prevention practices and processes.
• Provide data analysis and feedback on hospital processes and outcomes.
• Prepare ICRAs for construction projects and monitor sites.
