Job summary

Saint Alphonsus Health System is seeking an Infection Control Specialist for the Treasure Valley. The role will focus on surveillance, prevention, and control of healthcare-associated infections across Saint Alphonsus Medical Centers and clinics.

Primary office will be in Boise, with travel between sites. The position requires a health-care related bachelor’s degree or equivalent with CIC within three years, plus several years of acute care and infection prevention experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in health care related field required; CIC may substitute in lieu of health care degree.
• CIC certification required within three years of employment.
• 3 years of acute care experience required.
• 1 year of infection prevention experience preferred.
• Experience in performance improvement, facilitation and adult education required.
• Knowledge of CDC/OSHA/TJC regulations in infection control.
• Epidemiologic, microbiology and sterilization knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Surveil and identify hospital-acquired infections using established criteria.
• Travel between Saint Alphonsus Treasure Valley sites to educate and assist with process improvement.
• Maintain databases for surveillance and outcome metrics.
• Analyze and communicate infection prevention data.
• Initiate preventative measures for high-risk individuals and exposure events.
• Provide consultation on standards interpretation and implementation to hospital departments.
