Job summary

Saint Alphonsus Health System, part of Trinity Health, seeks an Infection Control Specialist for Saint Alphonsus Medical Group in Treasure Valley. This part-time, 32-hour-per-week role focuses on identifying and preventing healthcare-associated infections across Boise area sites.

The position involves education programs, policy development, performance improvement, and travel between clinics. Primary office location is Boise, with ongoing support from SAHS and Trinity Health.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in health care related field required.
• CIC certification required within three years of employment.
• 3 years of acute care experience required.
• 1 year of infection prevention experience preferred.
• Experience in performance improvement, facilitation and adult education required.
• Experience in statistics and research methodology preferred.
• Knowledge of CDC/OSHA/TJC/APIC guidelines and ability to interpret them.

Responsibilities

• Surveillance of patients to identify hospital acquired infections.
• Travel to ambulatory sites to identify deficiencies and assist with improvement.
• Maintains databases related to surveillance and metrics.
• Analyzes and communicates infection prevention data.
• Provides consultation on standards interpretation to hospital departments.
• Participates in policy development and procedures affecting patient care.
• Leads performance improvement teams and drives clinical practice changes.
