Job summary

Harris Regional Hospital in Sylva, NC is seeking an Infection Preventionist to join our Quality Department. You will develop and implement infection control policies, monitor hospital-acquired infections, and collaborate with Employee Health staff to protect patients and staff.

The role requires an RN license with BSN preferred (or MPH/related degree), 5+ years hospital experience, and BLS certification. We offer comprehensive benefits and professional growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Requires current RN license with BSN preferred; or MPH, certified medical technologist, or a BS in microbiology or epidemiology.
• Infection Control Certification within 3 years of employment.
• Minimum of five years clinical hospital experience or disease surveillance experience in public health.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire.
• Computer skills and basic statistics are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develops and implements policies governing control of infections and communicable diseases.
• Develops systems for identifying, reporting, investigating and controlling infections and communicable diseases.
• Assists Employee Health Nurse and other staff as time/workload permits.
• Provides concurrent surveillance of infection control activities.
• Develops and implements infection control measures hospital-wide.
• Provides assistance to/collaboration with Employee Health Nurse as needed.
• Maintains a log of infection-related incidents.
• Monitors hospital infections and evaluates nosocomial infection trends.
