Job summary

Mercy Health is seeking an RN Infection Preventionist to lead system-wide infection prevention and control initiatives. You will coordinate IPC activities under the guidance of the Manager of Infection Prevention and support the implementation of programs to identify, prevent, and reduce HAIs.

You will collaborate with epidemiology, laboratory, patient care teams, and leadership to ensure compliance with regulatory standards, educate staff, and contribute to quality improvement across Mercy

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing or healthcare-related field is required.
• Certification in Infection Control (CIC) required within 3 years.
• Master's degree in Nursing or healthcare-related field preferred.
• 2 years experience in direct patient care or related healthcare field preferred.
• Completion of advanced education in Infection Prevention is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Applies epidemiologic principles and risk stratification to identify target populations, analyzes trends and risk factors, and designs prevention strategies.
• Performs surveillance using NHSN criteria, documentation, and investigation of HAI through review of diagnoses, labs, isolation, and records.
• Utilizes computer-based programs for tracking, reporting, and disseminating information from surveillance activities.
• Prepares statistical reports to identify and analyze infection trends.
• Investigates infection control issues with IPC/Quality committees and manager.
