Job summary

Gadsden Regional Medical Center is seeking an Infection Control Coordinator to lead the hospital-wide infection prevention program, conduct active surveillance, analyze infection trends, and educate staff to ensure regulatory compliance.

The role collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to minimize infection risks, manages immunization and TB testing programs, investigates outbreaks, and reports data to leadership while staying current with APIC guidance.

Qualifications

• 2-4 years of experience in infection prevention, epidemiology, or a related field required.
• Experience with hospital-acquired infection surveillance and data analysis preferred.
• Knowledge of regulatory/accreditation requirements related to infection control is essential.

Responsibilities

• Develops, implements, and evaluates infection prevention and control programs.
• Conducts active surveillance of infections and analyzes trends.
• Prepares and presents infection control data to committees and leadership.
• Collaborates with departments to develop infection control policies and procedures.
• Provides education on hand hygiene, PPE, and infection prevention practices.
• Oversees immunization and TB skin test programs; ensures regulatory compliance.
• Manages follow-up for staff exposure to bloodborne pathogens; documents and reports it.
• Investigates potential infection outbreaks and coordinates containment measures.
• Partners with laboratory to ensure timely reporting of infectious diseases.
