Has a strong focus on Performance Improvement activities to include root cause analysis, risk assessments and outbreak investigation. Manages infection prevention program in the acute care setting or in the ambulatory care setting. Provides leadership, direction and mentorship/support for the infection prevention program. Serves as the infection prevention subject matter expert for the local setting. **What you will do** * Manages and coordinates the infection prevention surveillance, data abstraction and analysis, regulatory reporting, and staff education.* Organizes, plans, directs, and evaluates services provided for infection prevention. Completes root cause analysis, risk assessments, and outbreak investigations. Develops, implements and evaluates the Infection Prevention Plan. Reports communicable diseases to the health department, as required.* Participates/oversees the planning and monitoring of the budget for defined areas to include appropriate resource allocation determination. Completes variance review, analysis and action plans based on approved departmental budget.* Responds to suggestions and concerns from patients, visitors, staff and leadership.* Demonstrates initiative in professional development and continuing education. Assists in the professional development of other Infection Preventionists through guidance and teaching. Attends professional meetings and educational offerings.
