RN Registered Nurse Infection Preventionist
Infection Prevention Functions :
The RN Registered Nurse Infection Preventionist is responsible for planning, developing, organizing, implementing, and evaluating the infection control program. This includes researching current literature and technical reports to ensure that the facility’s infection control processes and procedures meet appropriate standards. The role involves communicating compliance issues to relevant parties and monitoring, through surveillance and inspection, to ensure proper infection prevention procedures are consistently followed within quality standards.
The RN collaborates with and assists supervisors and professionals in training and educating all personnel on the importance of infection prevention procedures. The role also includes preparing required reports for quarterly medical staff meetings.
The RN monitors all infections among residents and staff, tracks and oversees reporting of outbreaks, and coordinates tracking of IV and antibiotic usage within the resident population. Additionally, the RN consults on wound care, tracks wounds and skin issues, and provides direct nursing care as needed by the Nursing Services Department.
The preferred candidate will be wound care certified in accordance with the requirements of the CMS Mega Rule.
