Job summary

MediLodge of Sterling Heights is seeking an Infection Preventionist to coordinate and oversee the Infection Prevention and Control Program across residents and staff.

The role includes collecting infection data, training staff, and implementing CDC-guideline practices, with supervision of clinical staff. Valid Michigan nursing license and CPR required; prior infection control experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited School of Nursing.
• Valid license in the state employed.
• Valid CPR certification.
• Two years of nursing experience preferred with training in Infection Control.

Responsibilities

• Collecting, analyzing, and providing infection data and trends to nursing staff and health care practitioners.
• Consulting on infection risk assessment, prevention, and control strategies.
• Providing education and training; implementing evidence-based infection control practices.
• Oversees essential elements of a surveillance system including definitions, tools, rounds, and outbreak analysis.
• Ensures infection control reports describe infection types and are used to identify trends.
• Provides summaries of observations and investigation results to leadership.
• Defines how often and by what means surveillance data will be collected.
• Monitors practices to ensure standard precautions and transmission-based precautions are followed.
• Plans for containing outbreaks considering residents and staff needs.
• Performs other tasks as assigned.
