Job summary

Balboa Nursing & Rehabilitation Center is seeking an Infection Control Nurse to plan, implement, and oversee the facility's infection control program in accordance with CDC, OSHA, and state guidelines. You will monitor practices, review lab reports, and work with Nursing Services to develop care plans for residents; you will also educate staff and participate in the Infection Control Committee.

This role requires RN licensure, 2+ years in long-term care infection control, and strong knowledge of

Qualifications

• Nursing degree with active RN license in the state.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience, preferably in long-term care.
• Knowledge of epidemiology, microbiology, and infectious diseases.
• Working knowledge of aseptic technique and blood/body fluid precautions.
• Ability to interpret policies and procedures.
• CPR certification and related infection-control training.
• Experience with OSHA/CDC guidelines is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan and direct the facility's infection control program.
• Monitor compliance with procedures for blood/body fluid exposure.
• Coordinate laboratory support and review infection reports.
• Provide reports and recommendations to Administrator and Nursing Director.
• Participate in Infection Control Committee meetings.
• Train and orient staff on infection control and employee health.
• Oversee decontamination, sterilization, and waste handling.
• Ensure TB management and reportable diseases reporting.
