Job summary

Rutgers University Correctional Health Care seeks an Infection Control Nurse for the Northern State Prison in Newark and Edna Mahan Correctional Facility in Clinton, NJ. The role focuses on implementing the statewide infection control program with emphasis on HIV/AIDS-infected inmates to ensure a safe environment for inmates and staff.

Qualifications

• RN license to practice in New Jersey required.
• Minimum 2 years of documented clinical nursing experience.
• Valid driver’s license required; own vehicle or other means to travel between sites.

Responsibilities

• Identify and assess inmates with focus on HIV/AIDS diagnosed individuals and high-risk inmates.
• Plan and coordinate access to primary medical care, schedule tests, update labs, and manage medications under MD supervision.
• Provide information on infectious disease and infection control; deliver HIV pre/post testing counseling as needed; discharge planning for HIV inmates.
