Qualifications

• Must have long term care/nursing home experience.
• Infection Control Certification strongly preferred.
• Excellent communication, leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• This role monitors infections, ensures regulatory compliance, educates staff, conducts surveillance, and implements evidence-based practices to protect residents, visitors, and staff.
• Oversee the Infection Prevention & Control Program per CDC, CMS, and NYS DOH guidelines.
• Conduct infection surveillance, tracking, reporting, and trend analysis.
• Investigate and manage outbreaks with containment measures.
• Educate staff on infection prevention practices, PPE, hand hygiene, and isolation precautions.
• Perform infection control rounds and audits throughout the facility.
• Monitor antibiotic stewardship initiatives.
• Ensure compliance during state surveys and regulatory inspections.
• Collaborate with medical providers, nursing leadership, and interdisciplinary teams to improve resident outcomes.
• Maintain accurate documentation and required infection control reports.
