HCA Houston Healthcare West is seeking an Infection Prevention Coordinator to lead infection prevention initiatives in our West Houston hospital. You will investigate infections, analyze data, and collaborate with clinical teams to sustain effective prevention strategies.

The ideal candidate holds a BS in a healthcare field, IP certifications, and experience with TheraDoc and IPU Foundations, with a focus on regulatory compliance and performance improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in a healthcare or healthcare administration related field.
• One year recent clinical experience.
• Completion of TheraDoc training.
• Completion of IPU Foundations or evidence of equivalent training.
• Certification in Infection Control and Epidemiology 2 year grace period.

Responsibilities

• Identifies, investigates, monitors, and reports healthcare-associated infections.
• Collaborates with teams to create infection prevention strategies and provide feedback.
• Maintains knowledge of infection prevention regulatory and accreditation standards.
• Consults with local, state, and federal public health officials and organizations.

Job Summary and Qualifications

The Infection Prevention (IP) Coordinator is responsible for identifying, investigating, monitoring, and reporting healthcare-associated infections. The Coordinator collaborates with teams and individuals to create infection prevention strategies, provide feedback, and sustain infection prevention strategies.

What you will do in this role:

• Practices and adheres to the “Code of Conduct” and “Mission and Value Statement.”
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Complies with regulatory and mandatory reporting requirements at the local, state and federal levels.
• Maintains current knowledge on infection prevention and control regulatory and accreditation standards and facilitates compliance.
• Consults and collaborates as needed with local, state, and federal public health officials and community health organizations.
• Assesses and addresses the learning needs of those served.
• Assists with the preparation of meetings and meeting materials.
• Coordinates the day-to-day functions of the Infection Prevention Department.
• Collaborates with all disciplines and departments to forward infection prevention initiatives.
• Uses and interprets data to assist in collection and analysis.
• Performs data entry for infection prevention initiatives.

• Conducts surveillance, epidemiological studies, and investigations through systematic case finding and data collection, under supervision.
• Participates in performance improvement committees, teams, and initiatives as indicated.
