Qualifications

  • Minimum Infant/Toddler CDA required; associate or bachelor's degree in early childhood education or related field preferred.
  • Must complete required background checks and physical examination.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
  • Ability to travel locally up to 10%.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement age-appropriate learning experiences supporting cognitive, social-emotional, physical, and language development.
  • Create and maintain a safe, healthy, inclusive, engaging classroom environment.
  • Observe, assess, and document children’s progress to tailor learning experiences.
  • Foster positive teacher-child interactions and support self-regulation and social-emotional growth.
  • Implement curriculum, daily lesson plans, and individualized plans including IFSPs.
  • Ensure compliance with Head Start Performance Standards, licensing, and safety regulations.
  • Supervise children during activities, meals, and routines.
  • Engage families through regular communication, home visits, and conferences.
  • Collaborate with staff across health, disabilities, and family services teams.
  • Complete screenings, assessments, documentation, and reports on time.
  • Participate in training, coaching, and professional development activities.

Job Summary

The Infant-Toddler Teacher is responsible for providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment for children ages 0-3. Working collaboratively with a co-teacher, this role supports children's growth, development, and school readiness through developmentally appropriate curriculum, responsive caregiving, and strong family partnerships.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and implement age-appropriate learning experiences that support children's cognitive, social-emotional, physical, and language development.
  • Create and maintain a safe, healthy, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment.
  • Observe, assess, and document children's progress to individualize learning experiences and support developmental goals.
  • Foster positive teacher-child interactions using research-based practices that promote learning, self-regulation, and social-emotional growth.
  • Implement curriculum, daily lesson plans, and individualized plans, including IFSPs and supports for children with special needs.
  • Ensure compliance with Head Start Performance Standards, licensing requirements, health and safety regulations, and program policies.
  • Supervise children during classroom activities, outdoor play, field trips, meals, and daily routines.
  • Build strong partnerships with families through regular communication, home visits, parent-teacher conferences, and family engagement activities.
  • Collaborate with classroom staff, family services, health, disabilities, and mental health teams to support child and family success.
  • Complete required screenings, assessments, documentation, and reports accurately and on time.
  • Participate in training, coaching, staff meetings, and professional development opportunities.
  • Knowledge of infant and toddler growth and development.
  • Ability to create positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
  • Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to providing high-quality early childhood education and supporting school readiness.
Qualifications
  • Minimum Infant/Toddler CDA required; associate or bachelor's degree in early childhood education, Elementary Education, or a related field preferred.
  • Must successfully complete required background checks and physical examination.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
  • Ability to travel locally and occasionally long-distance (up to 10%).
