Job description

Infant/Toddler Lead Teacher

The Goddard School, NYC has locations on both the Upper West Side and Upper East Side. We are a school, not a daycare center. We are committed to providing the highest level of stimulating development and warm nurturant care for Infants, and an age-appropriate curriculum for One Year-Olds and up in our Toddler, Preschool, and Pre-Kindergarten classrooms. Our schools are state-of-the-art facilities with many large sun-filled rooms. We are seeking an assistant teacher for our preschool classroom to start as soon as possible!

Educational Qualifications

All candidates, who wish to be considered for the position of Infant/Toddler LeadTeacher must meetone or moreof the following criteria, in addition to any/all requirements that may be mandated by their state and/or local licensing authorities:

  • An Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education
  • Proof of current and active enrollment in an accredited Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree program in Early Childhood Education or a related field.

Lead Teacher Responsibilities

A Lead Teacher’s responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Establishing and maintaining a safe, healthy, and nurturing learning environment
  • Advancing children’s physical and intellectual competence
  • Supporting each child’s social and emotional development and provide positive guidance
  • Establishing positive and effective family relations and communication
  • Ensuring an effective program, responsive to children’s needs
  • Maintaining professional commitment
  • Ability to lift objects of up to 30 lbs. without assistance
  • Ability to implement requirements of Department of Health standards
  • Prepare timely notation of developmental milestones of each student
  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear and taste or smell.
  • Ability to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch.

Benefits

After a 60-day waiting period, you will be eligible for benefits such as medical insurance (Oxford Health), dental (Guardian Life) accrual of paid-time off, paid holidays, and other benefits as described in the Employee Handbook. Sick days begin to accrue upon hiring.

Medical Insurance:
The School will pay 50% of the monthly medical insurance premium for our basic individual plan. Coverage begins on the first of the month following enrollment, which can be elected by the end of a 60-day waiting period. You may choose, at additional cost to you, to obtain enhanced coverage, family coverage, and/or dental/vision coverage, if then available.

Paid Time Off:
All benefits eligible employees will receive the following:

  • As paid leave, the weekdays between December 25 and January 1.
  • Seven paid holidays as listed in the Employee Handbook
  • Five sick days per year (available to all employees, accrual starts with no waiting period).
  • 10 days of paid personal days in each calendar year, to be used at the discretion of the employee, subject to advanced approval and the best interests of the School. These days will accumulate at the rate of one per month, starting at the end of the 60-day waiting period. Hiring dates other than January 1 will result in proration of personal day accrual in the first year.
