Job summary

Orange County Head Start, Inc. seeks an energetic Teacher Assistant II - EHS to support the EHS Teacher in promoting health, safety and development for infants and toddlers.

You will help form caring relationships with families and assist with individualized care and daily classroom activities. The role involves implementing developmentally appropriate experiences, documenting progress, and supporting nutrition, safety, and transitions.

Qualifications

• Education: A Child Development Associate Teacher Permit and/or 12 units in Early Childhood Education/Child Development including core courses and 3 Infant/Toddler units.
• Experience: Some related experience.
• Knowledge: Early childhood development and Head Start standards.
• Language: English fluency; Spanish or Vietnamese may be required depending on community needs.
• Math: Basic math required.
• Other: California driver license and insurance; fingerprinting/background checks.
• Abilities: Able to communicate well, work in a team, and handle high energy environments.
• Reasoning: Understand and interact with children and parents.

Responsibilities

• Assist EHS Teacher to plan and implement learning experiences for infants and toddlers.
• Build partnerships with parents through ongoing communication at greetings and departures.
• Help develop individual lesson plans and track child progress with observations and samples.
• Document progress and assist with screening and assessment tools.
• Provide care including diapering, toileting, and safety supervision.
• Support one-on-one, small group, and large group interactions with children.
• Assist with meals, nutrition plans, and food storage.
• Participate in home visits and parent conferences to discuss progress.
