Job summary

Wateree Community Actions is seeking an Early Head Start Teacher in Sumter, SC to provide developmentally appropriate care for infants and toddlers. You will support each child’s social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development and collaborate with families and staff to promote readiness for school.

The role requires CDA or higher credentials for infants and toddlers, strong communication, and teamwork skills, with adherence to licensing and health/safety requirements.

Qualifications

• Infant/Toddler CDA or higher early childhood credential with appropriate coursework.
• Experience with infants and toddlers preferred.
• Ability to supervise and care for infants and toddlers in a classroom environment.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Meet Early Head Start, licensing, background check, health, and training requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care, supervision, and positive guidance for infants and toddlers.
• Plan and implement developmentally appropriate classroom activities and learning experiences.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and engaging classroom environment.
• Observe and document children's development and progress.
• Individualize activities to meet the needs, strengths, and goals of each child, including children with IFSPs.
• Build positive relationships with parents and families and encourage family involvement.
• Complete required classroom records, assessments, screenings, and other program documentation.
• Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development.
• Assist with meals, classroom sanitation, transportation/bus monitoring, and other program needs as assigned.
