Job summary

Lutheran Social Services of the South, Inc. dba Upbring in Alvin, TX, is seeking an Early Head Start Teacher to provide a nurturing, developmentally appropriate learning environment for infants and toddlers (0–3) and to partner with families to support school readiness.

The role follows Head Start Performance Standards, conducts ongoing assessments, ensures licensing compliance, and collaborates with teaching teams. Travel up to 10% may be required; Upbring offers competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Current CDA Credential in Infant and Toddler.
• COR Advantage Assessment certification.
• CPR and First Aid Certification.

Responsibilities

• Establish warm, secure atmosphere promoting healthy attachment.
• Plan engaging activities supporting development across cognitive, language and social-emotional domains.
• Maintain safe, clean classroom and follow health protocols.
• Monitor developmental progress using approved tools to tailor learning.
• Assist with feeding, diapering, and naps with sensitivity.
• Engage in singing, reading, and play to foster language skills.
• Communicate regularly with parents/caregivers and share resources.
• Collaborate with teams to address needs of all children including those with disabilities.
• Adhere to Head Start standards, licensing, and policies.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent
