Job description

Job Description: Early Childhood Educator

Responsible for upholding the Lakeview Village Child Development Center's (CDC) educational philosophies and goals by forming appropriate relationships with staff and families, providing guidance for the children, and managing the assigned classroom. Creates a warm, nurturing environment where families feel welcomed and loved.

Qualifications and Skills
  • Must be at least 18 years old, in accordance with the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE).
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Effective communication skills, including reading, writing, speaking, and analytical skills, with fluent understanding of English.
  • Experience teaching in an early childhood setting.
  • Minimum of 12 college hours in early childhood coursework; an Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education, CDA, or Bachelor's of Arts in Early Childhood Education preferred.
  • Understanding and application of developmentally appropriate classroom management skills for early childhood.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification required within 30 days of hire.
  • Knowledge of State licensing regulations for childcare.
  • Certification in Child Abuse and Neglect, and Signs and Symptoms of Illness within 30 days of hire.
  • ABC sleep certification within 30 days of hire.
  • Leadership skills and ability to exercise sound, independent judgment.
  • Experience with three or more children under the age of two is preferred.
  • Empathetic approach to children and families.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team with residents, relatives, staff, and others.
