Instruction and classroom design are built for one developmental stage instead of trying to serve the most and least mobile infants in the room at once. It also makes for a physically safer classroom: fewer mismatches in size, mobility, and mouthing behaviors that typically drive injuries. Less time managing a wide range of abilities means more time actually teaching.
