Job summary

The Department of Social Services is seeking a Newborn Crisis Assessments Specialist in Missouri to work with the Children’s Division on infant safety assessments. Multiple base locations are open for hiring, with potential higher pay based on a pay differential (e.g., shift or service time).

You will interview families, coordinate with hospitals and community partners, and document findings to support safety planning and service delivery.

Qualifications

• High school diploma plus 4+ years in protective services or related casework.
• Bachelor’s degree with substitutions allowed; experience in protective services may substitute.
• Social Services experience as described for the role; valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Conducts Newborn Crisis Assessments for at-risk infants per policy and timeframes.
• Interviews parents, caregivers, medical professionals, and others to gather safety data.
• Assesses infant safety, caregiver capacity, and environmental factors to plan next steps.
• Coordinates with hospitals and community partners for services and discharge planning.
• Completes home visits and reviews history to prepare comprehensive assessments.
• Prepares documentation of assessments, findings, and decisions per requirements.
• Participates in multidisciplinary meetings, staffings, and court proceedings.
• Performs related duties as assigned.
