RESPONSIBILITIES

The Infant Lead Teacher will:

  1. Maintain a constructive and ongoing rapport with children and parents.
  2. Collaborate with fellow teachers to cultivate a school environment that is welcoming and nurturing for every child.
  3. Plan and implement engaging activities that promote sensory exploration, motor skills, and social interaction.
  4. Monitor and document each child’s development progress, identifying milestones and areas for growth.
  5. Assist with daily routines, including feeding, diapering, and nap time, ensuring that each child’s needs are met.
  6. Ensure cleanliness, maintenance, and safety of the facility and all equipment for children’s use.
  7. Foster a classroom environment that actively encourages parental involvement.
  8. Deliver reports on potential concerns about the students to management as needed.

Professional Development

  1. Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in early childhood education.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Minimum of 1-year experience working with infant/toddlers and/or preschoolers in an approved setting or 1 year of college (30 semester hours) or combination of experience and college equal to 1 year.
  2. Must have a caring and nurturing attitude towards children.
  3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  4. Excellent organizational skills.
  5. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  6. Must meet all suitability for employment criteria set by the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) including criminal background check and medical report.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  1. Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education or equivalent is preferred.
  2. High School Diploma, certificate of high school equivalency or successful completion of college courses for credit.
  3. 6 semester, 90 clock hours or equivalent of approved early childhood coursework and 3 semester, 45 clock hours or the equivalent of approved infant/toddler coursework or 6 semester, 90 clock hours or equivalent of infant/toddler specific coursework.
  4. At least 9 clock hours of approved training in communicating with staff, parents and the public.
  5. Approved training in supporting breastfeeding practices.
  6. Must have ADA Certification.
  7. Must have Medication Administration Certification.
  8. Must have CPR First Aid Certification.
  9. Basic Health and Safety Training.

OTHER SKILLS & ABILITIES

  1. Ability to interact with the children and all staff members physically and verbally.
  2. Ability to perform the following physical activities: stand, sit, walk, climb, balance, and bend.
  3. At times, be able to lift amounts up to 50lbs.
