Job summary

GE HealthCare is seeking a Verification & Validation Co‑op in Waukesha, WI to join the V&V Engineering team. You’ll develop test procedures, run verification tests, and help identify design defects to ensure product quality for Infant Care devices.

You will collaborate with systems, software, electrical, and mechanical engineers, applying structured and creative test methods to improve robustness and usability before product release.

GE Healthcare V&V Engineering co-ops work on a variety of assignments with responsibilities and hands‑on involvement in areas of system and software verification. There will be project‑oriented assignments where a manager and mentor are assigned for support. These positions will work primarily with Infant Care products such as Incubators and Warmer.

Role Summary/Purpose:

V&V Engineering Co‑ops are integral members of the Verification team, supporting the development and execution of verification strategies that ensure product quality, design robustness, and compliance with system requirements. Working on Infant Care products, Co‑ops develop test procedures, execute verification testing, and apply both structured and creative test methodologies to identify design defects, performance gaps, and opportunities for improvement before product release.

In this role, Co‑ops collaborate closely with systems, software, electrical, and mechanical engineers to understand product requirements and evaluate system performance, functionality, and usability. Through hands‑on work with prototype systems, they leverage engineering problem‑solving skills to challenge product designs, uncover potential failure modes, and contribute to the delivery of safe, reliable, and high‑quality healthcare solutions.

Basic Qualifications
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to articulate technical problems in clear and simple terms.
  • Demonstrated analytical ability and technical competency in Computer Science, Biomedical, Electrical, Mechanical or Computer Engineering areas.
  • Strong Initiative and ability to work independently and in teams.
  • Able to work for a minimum of 20 weeks
  • Must be willing to work onsite from Waukesha, WI
  • Currently enrolled at an accredited college or university pursuing Mechanical, Electric, Computer or Computer Science Engineering or Biomedical Engineering, returning to school after the completion of the co‑op
Desired Characteristics
  • 3.0 cumulative overall GPA or better (in a 4.0 scale)
  • Prior intern, co‑op, or research experience in design engineering or manufacturing or research experience in the design field
  • Strong commitment to a career in technology and a passion for engineering.
  • Demonstrated analytic approach to problem solving.
  • Proven adaptable to difficult situations.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and community involvement.
