Job summary

GE HealthCare is seeking a VV Automation and Test Tools Engineering Co-op in the United States. You will work on test tools, automation frameworks, and verification of Life Support devices (Infant Care and Anesthesia Systems), with mentorship and project-oriented assignments.

You will code and run verification procedures, collaborate with development engineers, and gain hands-on experience with prototype systems.

Qualifications

  • Must be a full-time student pursuing a degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Biomedical Engineering with an emphasis in one of these fields.
  • GPA 3.0 on a 4.0 scale or better.
  • Demonstrated initiative, leadership, and teamwork.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain test tools and automation frameworks for verification of Life Support devices.
  • Execute verification and validation procedures and stress test designs.
  • Collaborate with development engineers to identify and resolve defects prior to manufacturing.
  • Relocate if needed and engage in hands-on prototyping with hardware-in-the-loop.

GE Healthcare V&V Automation and Test Tools Engineering co-ops work on a variety of assignments with responsibilities and hands‑on involvement in areas of system and software verification. There will be project-oriented assignments where a manager and mentor are assigned for support. These positions will work primarily with Anesthesia and Respiratory Care (ARC) products.

Position Description

V&V Automation and Test Tools Engineering co-ops will help develop and maintain test tools and automation frameworks required to verify and stress the functionality of our Life Support devices (Infant Care and Anesthesia Systems). Co-ops will also get involved in coding and executing Verification and Validation procedures which will utilize a combination of structured and creative test approaches to stress the design quality of anesthesia and respiratory care systems with the goal of finding defects in the product design so they can be resolved prior to manufacturing the product. V&V Automation and Test Tools Engineering Co-ops act as key team members interacting with development engineers to understand and analytically stress the functionality, performance, and usability of system features. These individuals work hands‑on with assembled prototype systems using their engineering skillsets to reverse the problem‑solving process to find defects in the product design.

Basic Qualifications
  • Demonstrates initiative, intellectual curiosity, and confidence in sharing ideas and contributing to a team environment.
  • Demonstrates computer sciences/engineering skills (e.g. C++, Python, C#).
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to articulate technical problems in clear and simple terms.
  • Demonstrated analytical ability and technical competency in Computer Science, Biomedical, or Computer Engineering areas.
  • Proven Leadership skills and experience.
  • Strong Initiative and ability to work independently and in teams.
  • Able to work for a minimum of 30 weeks.
  • Must be willing to relocate.
  • Must be a full time student pursuing a degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Engineering or Computer Science, or Biomedical Engineering with an emphasis in Mechanical, Electrical or Computer Engineering.
Desired Characteristics
  • 3.0 cumulative overall GPA or better (in a 4.0 scale).
  • Prior intern, co-op, or research experience in computer sciences/engineering or research experience in the design field.
  • Strong commitment to a career in technology and a passion for engineering.
  • Demonstrated analytic approach to problem solving.
  • Proven adaptable to difficult situations.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and community involvement.
