The Goddard School of Northeast Portland, OR is seeking an Assistant Teacher to support the Lead Teacher in delivering engaging, age-appropriate lessons and to foster a safe, nurturing classroom environment. You will help children grow socially, emotionally, cognitively and physically and ensure daily routines run smoothly.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; associate or bachelor's in Early Childhood Education preferred.
• Previous experience working with young children in a licensed childcare or preschool setting.
• Shows empathy and compassion for young children.
• Works productively without supervision.
• Basic understanding of child development.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. in connection with the handling of children.
• Must pass required state background checks and meet state minimum education, experience and credential requirements, including Infant Safe Sleep training.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Lead Teacher in implementing age-appropriate lesson plans.
• Support children’s social, emotional, cognitive and physical development through active engagement and positive interactions.
• Prepare classroom materials and ensure a safe, clean and inviting learning environment.
• Supervise and provide individualized support to children and foster a sense of belonging.
• Assist in communicating with families about their child’s progress and daily activities.
• Adhere to health and safety guidelines and licensing regulations to ensure a secure environment.
• Support daily care routines and tasks to promote a nurturing learning environment.
