YMCA is seeking caring, dependable Assistant Teachers to join our early childhood education team. You will work with Lead Teachers to implement lessons, support development, and foster a safe, nurturing classroom environment.

This role emphasizes helping children learn through play, building relationships with families, and maintaining program quality across social, emotional, physical, and cognitive domains. 18+, 2 years’ experience preferred.

Qualificações

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working with children and/or in a customer service environment.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Current First Aid, CPR, Child Abuse Prevention, and Communicable Disease certifications, or willingness to obtain within 90 days of hire.

Responsabilidades

  • Support the delivery of high-quality childcare and educational programs aligned with YMCA standards.
  • Encourage children's development through intentional, positive interactions and engaging activities.
  • Assist with planning and implementing age-appropriate lessons and learning experiences.
  • Create and maintain a safe, nurturing, and welcoming classroom and outdoor environment.
  • Build trusting relationships with children, families, and fellow staff members.
  • Maintain compliance with YMCA policies, licensing requirements, and Step Up to Quality standards.
  • Assist with meal and snack planning in accordance with CACFP guidelines.
  • Help maintain organized, clean, and engaging classroom spaces.
  • Communicate observations, concerns, and developmental progress with Lead Teachers and families.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities offered by the YMCA.

What We're Looking For
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working with children and/or in a customer service environment.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Strong understanding of child development and age-appropriate interactions.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with children, families, and colleagues from diverse backgrounds.
  • Basic computer proficiency and willingness to complete required documentation.
  • Current First Aid, CPR, Child Abuse Prevention, and Communicable Disease certifications, or willingness to obtain within 90 days of hire.
