Responsibilities

The Industry Certifications Coordinator is responsible for implementing and managing industry-based certifications for credit and non-credit programs in the Industry and Manufacturing Programs Division.
This position is a direct report to the Dean of the Industry and Manufacturing Programs.

The coordinator will collaborate with Department Chairs, Program Directors, Academic Leadership and Faculty on and off campus to develop and support the advancement of micro-credentialing opportunities for current students, local industry partners, and members of the community. The certification coordinator will create customized training including short courses, workshops, and conferences for business and industry as well as for promoting industry recognized certification/micro-credentials.

1. Manage industry-based certifications process and procedures embedded within credit and non-credit courses, i.e. National Center for Construction Education & Research ( NCCER ), North American Process Technology Alliance ( NAPTA ), CompTIA, American Welding Society ( AWS ), United States Coast Guard ( USCG ), SACA and others.

2. Support Chairs, Program Directors Full and part time faculty to ensure every program includes an industry recognized credential and every technical program student is working toward an industry recognized credential.

3. Maintain records and data needed to complete various College, Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, Texas State University System, and/or Texas Workforce Commission reports.

4. Serve as community liaison to develop and maintain strategic partnership.

5. Develop curriculum for customized training, short courses, and/or conference/workshops.

6. Manage equipment, MOUs, testing materials, compliance paperwork, and necessary supplies.
7. Work on special projects as assigned by the Dean of Industry and Manufacturing Programs.

8. Promote positive morale and teamwork within the department and campus by providing exceptional customer service to students, colleagues, and the community.

9. Work with credentialing agencies and other programs that promote student success.
10. Travel regularly to various locations to fulfill position responsibilities.

11. Complete all required training and professional development sessions sponsored by LSCO
12. Serve on committees as appropriate and as appointed by the Dean of Industry and Manufacturing Programs.
13. Develop a strategic vision and plan for micro credentials that lead to student success.
14. Recommend changes to credentials and other projects to the Dean.
13. Perform other related duties as assigned.


The Individual is committed to positive actions for fostering good relationships and esprit de corps among co-workers, departments, other units in the college, with students, and contacts outside the college.

Qualifications

Hold a master’s degree or higher in the teaching discipline; OR

Hold a master’s degree in any discipline, with 18 graduate hours in the teaching discipline; OR

Hold a bachelor’s degree in the teaching discipline; OR

Hold a bachelor’s degree in any discipline, with 12 undergraduate and/or graduate hours in the teaching discipline or related field; OR

Hold an associate’s degree in the teaching discipline PLUS have 3 years of relevant full-time work experience; OR

Hold a college certificate or an industry-recognized credential/certificate in the teaching discipline PLUS have 3 years of relevant full-time work experience.

Required: Strong managerial and administrative experience. Leadership skill and ability to lead work teams. Basic computer skills, including MS Office. Experience developing and managing budgets. High school diploma or GED . Valid driver’s license. Must comply with established college policies and standards.

Preferred: Knowledge of area industry, preferably in manufacturing or construction industries, machining, agribusiness, and/or welding and fabrication techniques. Grant writing/management experience and an associate or bachelor’s degree in business, management, or related field highly desirable.
