Astec, a global, environmentally focused infrastructure and manufacturing company, seeks a welder for its Norris Screen Manufacturing site in Tazewell, VA. The role involves welding heavy components, reading blueprints, inspecting materials, and performing grinding per production schedules.

Successful candidates will have a high school diploma or GED, 0–5 years welding experience, and capability to MIG weld, stick weld, and arc gouge.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 0-5 years welding experience required.
• Heavy equipment manufacturing experience preferred.
• Knowledge and ability to perform all grinder tasks.
• Ability to read and understand weld symbols.

Responsibilities

• Weld metal components with MIG and stick welding per specifications.
• Read blueprints prior to starting a project.
• Inspect metal prior to welding for cleanliness and quality.
• Perform grinding operations per Astec standards.
• Coordinate with Fitters on proper assembly of equipment.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area and proper PPE.
