Job summary

Black & Veatch is seeking a seasoned Staff Environmental Sciences Specialist focused on industrial wastewater permitting. You will lead NPDES permitting and compliance efforts for municipal and industrial facilities, preparing complex permit applications and supporting documentation while coordinating with clients, engineers, and regulatory authorities.

You will advise on regulatory strategies under the Clean Water Act, review effluent limits, and help develop compliance programs, reporting

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental science or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in environmental permitting or compliance, preferably in the U.S.
• Experience preparing or supporting NPDES permit applications.
• Willingness to travel domestically and coordinate with agency and client teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support NPDES permitting and compliance projects for municipal and industrial facilities across the U.S.
• Prepare permit applications including narratives, flow and pollutant loading evaluations, and monitoring plans.
• Evaluate regulatory applicability under the Clean Water Act and state programs.
• Review effluent limitations, water quality standards, and antidegradation requirements.
• Coordinate with facility owners, engineers, laboratories, legal counsel, and permitting authorities.
• Provide guidance on permit compliance programs and reporting.
