Job summary

Allied Resources Group (ARG) in Merrillville, IN is seeking a Structural Designer to create drawings for heavy industrial equipment and foundations. The role emphasizes independent design of structures, foundations, and pipe racks, with field investigations to support accurate details.

The ideal candidate brings 4+ years of similar experience, knowledge of structural steel and concrete methods, and proficiency in AutoCAD, Word, Excel, and TEAMS. ABET-accredited degree preferred.

Qualifications

• Certificate of Drafting and Design required.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Structural Engineering or Engineering Technology (ABET accredited) preferred.
• 4+ years of continuous employment in a similar role, including internship or coop experience.
• Working knowledge of structural steel materials and framing techniques; concrete construction methods.

Responsibilities

• Perform independent design of light structures including building steel, stairs/platforms, and equipment supports.
• Perform independent design of basic concrete structures/foundations including footers, trenches, floor slabs and walls.
• Conduct field/site trips and investigations to obtain needed information and measurements.
• Experience with structural design for structural steel platforms, equipment supports, pile systems, pipe & cable tray racks & bridges, and reinforced concrete foundations.
• Check construction drawing sets and review/approve shop fabrication detail drawings.
