Job summary

Anchor Insulation, part of the Installed Building Products family, is hiring an Industrial Sewing Machine Operator in Rhode Island. You will operate industrial sewing machines to manufacture tactical and protective textile products, following patterns, drawings, and work orders.

Candidates need at least 3 years of industrial sewing experience, the ability to handle heavy-duty materials, read instructions, and maintain quality. The role requires teamwork to meet production deadlines.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Operate industrial sewing machines to manufacture tactical and protective textile products.

• Follow work orders, patterns, drawings, and instructions to produce accurate stitching.
• Inspect products for quality and durability, and perform routine machine maintenance.
• Maintain a clean, organized production area and support team to meet deadlines.

Job description

Pay range: $18.00-$25.00 an hour based on experience.

Anchor Insulation is seeking an Industrial Sewing Machine Operator to join our team!

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate industrial sewing machines to manufacture tactical and protective textile products
• Sew heavy-duty materials including composite glass cloths, nylon webbing, hook & loop, zippers, and stainless-steel fasteners.
• Operate specialty production equipment such as hot knives, bar tack machines, and other manufacturing equipment.
• Follow work orders, sewing patterns, technical drawings, diagrams, and instructions
• Produce clean, accurate, and consistent stitching while maintaining high production standards
• Inspect products to ensure they meet quality, durability, and dimensional specifications
• Perform routine machine maintenance including thread and bobbins, needle replacement, and basic troubleshooting.
• Maintain a clean and organized production work area
• Work closely with the production team to meet manufacturing deadlines while maintaining quality output.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 3 years of professional industrial sewing experience
• Experience operating industrial sewing machines (single needle, walking foot, bar tack, serger, or similar equipment)
• Ability to cut and sew multiple layers of heavy-duty materials
• Ability to read and follow production instructions and sewing patterns
• Hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to craftsmanship
• Self‑motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Experience working with composite glass cloths, nylon webbing, hook & loop, and other textiles
• Experience operating automated cutting equipment, hot knives, or bar tack machines
• Familiarity with Bills of Materials (BOMs), technical drawings, and manufacturing documentation

Previous experience in a production, manufacturing, or industrial environment is preferred!

Physical Demands:

This role requires the ability to sit or stand for extended periods throughout the workday, perform repetitive hand, wrist, and arm movements, and safely and efficiently operate industrial manufacturing equipment. The position also requires the ability to lift, carry, and move materials weighing up to 40 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
