Job summary

Nestlé USA is hiring for a 12-hour shift position focused on operating, maintaining, and repairing boiler and utility systems across our manufacturing facilities in Ohio. The role emphasizes ammonia refrigeration, HVAC, and electrical controls with strict safety and GMP standards.

The successful candidate will bring Ohio boiler/operator licensing, 3+ years of related experience, and a willingness to train in HazMat. Competitive pay, robust benefits, and sign-on incentives are part of the package.

Qualifications

  • State of Ohio license: High Pressure Boiler Operator or Third Class Stationary Engineer required.
  • 3+ years operating, repairing, and maintaining boilers, refrigeration, HVAC, and utilities.
  • Ammonia refrigeration and electrical controls experience preferred.
  • EPA refrigerant recovery certification preferred.
  • HAZMAT training preferred (training provided).
  • Must be able to perform safely on a 12-hour shift with overtime and rotating schedule.
  • High attention to detail and good handwriting.

Responsibilities

  • Start systems and observe operation.
  • Read gauges; adjust mechanisms to control pressure, temperature, and level.
  • Maintain refrigeration, steam, and other utility systems.
  • Use water chemistry knowledge to service equipment.
  • Monitor building utilities and respond to emergencies on production floors.
  • Troubleshoot and repair utility systems equipment as needed.
  • Dismantle malfunctioning systems and test components.
  • Pipefitting and plumbing repair.
  • Other duties as assigned.

WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU

Pay rate: $34.35/hr - $41.82/hr, plus shift differential. Base Pay dependent on experience/certifications.

Schedule: Wednesday‑Friday, 5:30 pm‑6 am. Weekend, every other Saturday.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
  • Starts systems and observes operation.
  • Read gauges and instruments and adjust mechanisms to control level of fluid, pressure and temperature in system.
  • Maintain proper functioning of refrigeration systems, steam generation, compressed air, hot water, treated water, glycol and other systems.
  • Use knowledge of water chemistry to maintain and service equipment.
  • Maintain monitoring of utilities used by the building.
  • Respond to emergency calls regarding refrigeration on production floor.
  • Ensure continued production operation as it relates to refrigeration equipment, utilities and HVAC equipment.
  • Dismantle malfunctioning system and test components using electrical mechanical and pneumatic testing equipment. Troubleshoot, adjust and /or repair utility systems equipment as problems/deviations occur.
  • Pipefitting and plumbing repair.
  • Other duties assigned.
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS
  • State of Ohio, High Pressure Boiler Operator or Third Class Stationary Engineer License is required.
  • Manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Associate must have at least 3 years of experience in the operation, repair and maintenance of boilers, refrigeration, HVAC, and utility equipment/systems.
  • Experience in ammonia refrigeration and electrical controls preferred.
  • EPA refrigerant recovery certification preferred.
  • HAZMAT training certification preferred (will train). Must be willing and able to participate on a HAZMAT team.
  • Must have legible handwriting with attention to detail.
  • Must be able to climb stairs and stand for long periods of time.
  • Detect and understand warning lights, buzzers, alarms or instruments indicating hazardous conditions or circumstances which may cause equipment or product loss and physical harm.
  • Must observe good manufacturing practices (GMPs)
  • Must follow safety rules and procedures.
  • Must be able to work 12 hours per day on an assigned shift with some daily overtime and weekend overtime.
  • Must be able to work a rotating 3-4 schedule on assigned shift.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.

The approximate pay for this position is $34.35-$41.82. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to knowledge, skills and abilities as well as geographic location.
