GS-13 Level: In addition to meeting the basic requirement, qualified applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade (GS-12 for the GS-13) in the Federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position. GS-13 Specialized Experience Is Defined As: (1) Interpreting broad regulatory guidelines, determine the applicability, and exercise authority to modify and adapt security policies and regulations for command-wide execution. Guidelines include OMB, Congress, OSD, C3I, JCS, and DoD security directives and requirements. AND (2) Establishing criteria for identifying and analyzing trends in security violations and other lapses in security, and in measuring organizational effectiveness in achieving security objectives and goals. AND (3) Identifying and establish alternate ways to resolve conflicting objectives and overlapping policy requirements that may have an impact on the security program. You may qualify for consideration if meeting specialized experience, education requirement, 90 days after competitive appointment requirement, and all other qualification requirements within 30 calendar days after the closing date of the announcement, unless otherwise indicated on the announcement.
