Job summary

FGF Brands is seeking a Sanitation Technician in the United States to join our production team. Reporting to the Sanitation Shift Leader and Team Leader, you will clean and maintain a range of equipment, follow SSOPs, and support cross‑functional departments while upholding food safety standards.

You will use internal software and tools to plan work, handle equipment tasks, and participate in changeovers. Flexibility for weekend shifts and physical work is required, with strict adherence to GMPs

Qualifications

  • Sanitation experience in food manufacturing preferred.
  • Scissor Lift license required.
  • Strong safety and GMP/BRC awareness.
  • Ability to work weekends as department needs require.
  • Physically capable of long shifts and repetitive tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure electrical components are properly covered before cleaning to prevent safety issues.
  • Assist in maintaining sanitation programs and equipment programs as needed.
  • Use internal software platforms and digital tools to plan and organize work.
  • Clean and maintain industrial equipment in accordance with SSOPs and schedules.
  • Communicate effectively using verbal, written, and radio channels.
  • Train fellow team members where needed and foster cross-functional collaboration.
  • Address issues or emergencies related to sanitation, including safety hazards and leaks.
  • Support during product changeovers throughout the production week.
  • Follow GMPs, food safety practices and FGF policies.

Summary

Reporting to the Sanitation Shift Leader, and Sanitation Team Leader. The Sanitation Technician is responsible for cleaning and maintaining a range of different equipment within the plant, works in a timely manner, works alongside cross functional departments, and meets all standards set forth by FGF Brands.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Ensure that all electrical components (motors, sensors, HMI screens, etc.) are covered properly before cleaning to prevent safety issues and damage to the electrical components
  • Assists in maintaining sanitation programs and equipment programs as needed (e.g. changing rack wheels, changing air socks, replacing filters, wastewater sampling, removing and reinstalling conveyor belts, washing HVAC systems, supporting DAF system (where applicable), and other assigned tasks)
  • Strong ability to use internal software platforms and digital tools to plan and organize work.
  • Cleans and maintains a range of industrial equipment including oiler machines, ovens, conveyor belts, scissor lifts, sky jacks, motors, sanitation equipment, and any assigned tasks in accordance to SSOP’s and Smart Schedule
  • Must communicate efficiently and effectively using various forms such as verbal, written, two-way radio, other programs, etc.
  • May be responsible for training fellow Team Members where they have the knowledge and experience
  • Maintains excellent working relationships with cross functional departments
  • Address any issues or emergencies related to the Sanitation department. This may include examples such as equipment issues/failures, water leaks, safety hazards, food safety issues, etc.
  • Support during product changeovers through the production week
  • Always follows and enforces GMP’S and Food Safety practices and policies
  • Performs all job responsibilities under the strictest guidelines of the BRCGS Food Safety Standards and FGF Policies
  • Ensures all chemicals are handled properly according to FGF policies and the chemical supplier’s specifications
  • Follow all Health & Safety policies and practices (PPE, best practices, safety requirements, etc.)
  • Ensure to address any pest issues to fullest capability including cleaning and reporting
  • Must be flexible to work throughout the week and weekend (Sat. and Sun.) and able to work up to 12 hr. shifts when needed.
  • Operates Scissor Lift safely to clean overhead and hard to reach areas
  • Collaborate effectively with all internal groups/teams and provide support during the daily cleaning
  • Performs other training and duties as assigned
Required Skills & Experience
  • Meets requirements for their current role as outlined in “Sanitation Skill/Training Requirements Matrix”
  • Meets requirements for the Sanitation Technician I role as outlined in “Sanitation Skill/Training Requirements Matrix”
  • Minimum 6 months experience working in the sanitation industry in a food manufacturing environment (food/bakery experience is desirable)
  • Scissor Lift license required
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Good communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Physically capable of performing the demands of the role
  • Ability to move from one task to another with minimal distraction
  • Weekend schedule is required based on the needs of the department
  • Accuracy and attention to detail and the ability to detect the presence of a sanitation issue
  • Familiar with internal audits and BRC audits
  • Working knowledge of GMP's, OSHA is required
  • Post-secondary education an asset
