Job summary

JP Cullen is seeking an Industrial Safety Manager to lead safety programs within the Industrial Division in the Madison, WI area. The role includes developing training, conducting risk assessments, and mentoring junior safety staff to promote a proactive safety culture.

Responsibilities include site planning, enforcing OSHA standards, incident investigations, and ensuring compliance across field operations. Strong leadership and written communication are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety/health with at least three years as a Safety Specialist OR completion of an Apprenticeship with six years of construction experience.
• CHST, ASP, or CSP preferred.
• Proficiency with OSHA standards.
• Advanced knowledge of construction industry practices, risk management and field operations.
• Thorough understanding of and ability to enforce all federal, state, local and company regulations.
• Ability to recognize hazardous situations and implement corrective measures.
• Strong management, leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Ensure Cullen policies, procedures and quality standards are followed per the Quality Management System.
• Participate in pre-job planning, Ops Planning, and attend 6-week jobsite visits to hold job teams accountable.
• Determine means, methods and equipment during pre-construction evaluation phase.
• Develop and facilitate formal and informal training sessions at job sites.
• Educate foreman on the daily work plan procedure and hold them accountable.
• Ensure subcontractors are training per OSHA standards and report violations.
• Assist safety director in investigations, near misses, and OSHA investigations.
• Ensure field personnel are up to date on compliance requirements (OSHA 30, first aid, CPR).
• Conduct on-site inspections and improve safety through teaching and coaching.
