Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Industrial Safety Engineer to lead safety programs at the Queenstown facility. You will conduct risk assessments, oversee incidents, and drive compliance with OHSAS 18001/ISO 45001 and SA legislation while fostering a proactive safety culture.

This hands-on role requires site inspections, training delivery, and collaboration with management to implement corrective actions and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in industrial safety engineering or a related role.
• Knowledge of OHSAS 18001/ISO 45001 and relevant South African safety legislation.
• Experience in risk assessments, incident investigations, and developing safety programs.
• Excellent communication, training, and presentation skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team.
• First Aid and CPR certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage the company's industrial safety program.
• Conduct site inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
• Perform risk assessments and JHAs for operations and tasks.
• Investigate workplace incidents, accidents, and near misses, determining root causes and recommending corrective actions.
• Develop and deliver safety training programs to employees at all levels.
• Ensure compliance with national and international safety standards and legislation.
• Maintain accurate safety records and documentation, including incident reports and training logs.
• Promote a positive safety culture through communication, engagement, and leadership.
• Advise management on safety policies, procedures, and best practices.
• Stay updated on changes in safety regulations and industry trends.
