Job summary

San Juan College seeks an adjunct/part-time instructor to teach in-person industrial safety courses and develop new classes as needed. The role requires maintaining current credentials and providing effective student support.

The position allows remote or hybrid arrangements within specified states; a semester-by-semester appointment is typical, with teaching limited to 9 credit hours per term and multiple benefits for eligible adjuncts.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or eight years of experience in a safety-related technical field.
• Ability to answer questions using relevant examples from prior experience.
• Adjunct faculty are hired on a semester basis and may teach up to 9 credit hours/semester.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and teaches short-term, in-person industrial safety courses.
• Initiates and develops new classes as requested and in the instructor’s area of expertise.
• Maintains proper certification and credentials.
• Resolves student issues and concerns or refers to coordinator.
• Communicates with the coordinator by in person, email, or phone.
• Performs related duties.
