Job summary

Stratus Team, LLC in Billings, MT is seeking a Process Design Engineering Intern to assist engineers on industrial process systems, equipment layouts, and material and energy flows. The role provides hands-on exposure to design tools and project documentation under experienced professionals.

You will participate in site visits, meetings, and cross-disciplinary coordination, gaining practical experience while developing fundamentals in process design and safety considerations.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program in Chemical, Mechanical, Process Engineering, or a related field.
• Completion of relevant coursework in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, mass transfer, or process design.
• Basic understanding of process systems and engineering calculations.
• Basic proficiency with AutoCAD or similar design software and Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Assist with process flow diagrams, P&IDs, calculations, equipment data, reports, and other project documentation.
• Support process equipment evaluation, system layouts, material and utility balances, and design coordination.
• Participate in project meetings, site visits, field observations, and collaboration with mechanical, piping, electrical, instrumentation, and structural teams.
