Job summary

The Weitz Company is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager for our Industrial division in Des Moines, IA. This role focuses on profitably managing administrative and field construction activities to high quality standards while maintaining strong stakeholder relationships.

The candidate will oversee multiple medium-to-large projects, provide leadership, mentorship, and ensure adherence to company standards and safety.

Qualifications

• Industry-related college degree is required; an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
• Minimum of five (5) years of construction experience, including project management experience; semiconductor experience preferred.
• Strong business acumen, communication, leadership, and negotiation skills; ability to manage multiple stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and manage project schedules and identify long lead items; update plans as required.
• Negotiate and execute change orders, subcontracts and purchase orders.
• Complete monthly project status reports, owner billings and financial risk assessments.
• Identify value engineering and scope reduction opportunities.
• Ensure project safety plans are communicated to the team and subcontractors.
• Manage the buy-out process and monitor constructability issues.
• Understand contracts, budgets, insurances, bonds, and change orders; ensure work stays within scope.
